By developing an environment in which strategic exploration and the development of business agility occur, a critical link is built first in establishing and then in sustaining an organizations strategic positioning. Being agile requires capabilities that are shaped by designing and managing business processes and technology enablers together. Through convergence, agility is enabled and repeatable. Technology is at the heart of business processes and models today, and its true that approaches such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) can introduce flexibility into a firm’s infrastructure that allows the business to be nimble.
Conducted in partnership with IBM's SOA, BPM and WebSphere Software Group, BTM Corporation examined the attributes of agility and how successful companies employ technology to achieve it. The BTM Business Agility Index was built on a framework that describes the processes, structures and behaviors that together comprise business agility: Management Behaviors; Business Technology Architecture; and Operational Practices.
The findings reveal the key role business agility holds in economic performance and how business technology convergence can accelerate establishment of a strategic position that drives such action and benefits.
