Product Drivers

To achieve convergence of business and technology management requires a step-by-step management maturity improvement that ultimately creates a ‘whole-brained’ enterprise with cross-functional, cross-disciplinary roles and responsibilities.

How an organization is structured - its roles, processes and coordination mechanisms - can make or break an organization’s ability to achieve effective Business Technology Management (BTM). It directly and indirectly impacts the Board of Directors, Office of the CEO, Office of the CIO, Program Management Office, Office of the CTO, Business Professionals, as well as Technology Professionals. BTM 360 product suite provides a management framework, management software, and best practice templates that create better communication and change management structures to drive collaborative decision making and coordinated execution for maximized business value.

Driving Forces

Three horizontal forces drove our product design to create a cross-functional management practice that results in business technology convergence:

  • Demand-side forces result in the need for rapid, innovative, safe and cost-effective use of business technology: With technology increasingly embedded into products, services, business processes and relationships, firms must nurture creative and innovative use of business technology. Managing these demands requires the blending of business and technology knowledge.
  • Supply-side forces require delivery of reliable and cost effective business technology: With the horizontal fragmentation of the technology industry and the viability of outsourcing and off-shoring options, it’s hard to find a firm that doesn’t cite “solutions integration” as a major way that it adds value. That means managing relationships with a diverse number of service providers.
  • Administrative forces result in the need for better management of business technology: Almost everywhere today, technology assets are a significant proportion of the capital base, and many recent reports have pegged the proportion of this relative to overall capital investments at levels that often exceed 50% of the total. This fact carries a range of administrative imperatives: greater oversight and management of business technology productivity and risk; appropriate controls and audits as an integral element of enterprise risk management; continual benchmarking of business technology costs, with transparent costing models for services.
